17 June 1953 – 17 June 2016 / 63rd anniversary of the national uprising of 17 June 1953

The national uprising of 17 June 1953 brought about a turning point in 20th-century European history. It was followed by the Hungarian Revolution, the Prague Spring and the founding of the free trade union Solidarność in Poland. The national uprising of 17 June was the first mass revolt against Soviet communism.
